Ok here goes-soon i will be trading in an old mk2 mondeo for a new car-now as car being 12 year old aint worth much i dont really wanna let it go to dealer with about £50 worth of petrol in it-can i just remove pipe from either inlet or outlet side of fuel filter and place over a petrol can and then turn ignition to position number 2 and will this start fuel flowing out of pipe?

You want it on the return pipe, used to do this on Vectra hire cars, might not be the same on the Mondeo, just turn the car over and let it run. Or as above, tube and suck!

Oops, I mean the return pipe that's usually above the tank. Usually accessible from under the rear seat.

Suck on bit of hosepipe until you gag on taste of petrol, then vacuum will do the rest as you pour it downwards into your jerry can.

i like to take the fuel line to the filter off and turn ignition on. don't like the taste of unleaded.

I used to use the tube and suck approach and with a clear pipe you could avoid getting a mouthful although fumes were probably a bad thing. Best not to smoke immediately afterwards

Years ago I bought a little suction pump that fits on the end of an electric drill and will do the job. Don't know how much they cost but can't be a lot. dl

thats why the POS went straight for my tank when they couldnt get anything thro the filler

The pump only runs for 2-3 second when the engine is not turning.

You'll need to bridge teh fuel pump relay, or feed 12v straight to the pump (under the rear seat, I guess), so the pump runs continuously.
